Four Spotted Chaser (Libellula quadrimaculata)
Welcome to my quick identification guide for the Four Spotted Chaser. These graphics are meant as a guide to the key identifying features of both the male and the female dragonflies.
The text section has been kindly written and supplied by Mr Ken Crick.
The distinctive wing spots that give this species its vernacular name are diagnostic. Generally brown hue throughout darkening to black towards the anus. The leading wings have a very light brown area adjacent to the thorax, while the trailing wing is dark brown towards the root.
