Golden Ringed Dragonfly (Cordulegaster boltonii)
Welcome to my quick identification guide for the Golden Ringed Dragonfly. These graphics are meant as a guide to the key identifying features of both the male and the female dragonflies.
The text section has been kindly written and supplied by Mr Ken Crick.
A large dragonfly (see above) with a pale yellow face, tear shaped green eyes that meet to make point contact. The thorax and abdomen are black with yellow banding. Abdominal segment 3 is slightly “waisted” and segments 7 and 8 laterally flattened giving a club like appearance.
